FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is sundowning?
Sundowning is a pattern of increased confusion, agitation, and anxiety that occurs in the late afternoon and evening in people with Alzheimer's or dementia. As natural light fades, the brain's internal clock becomes disrupted — triggering fear, restlessness, and distress. It affects an estimated 20% of people with dementia and is one of the most emotionally exhausting parts of caregiving.
Will these kits actually help my loved one?
Every product in our kits is selected based on evidence from occupational therapy, gerontology, and caregiver research. Dementia clocks reduce time-based confusion. Lavender aromatherapy has been shown in multiple studies to reduce agitation in dementia patients. Warm amber lighting supports melatonin production and evening calm. No product eliminates sundowning — but the right sensory environment makes a real difference, and hundreds of caregivers have told us it does.
My parent has severe dementia. Will this work for them?
Our kits are designed for mild to moderate sundowning — which covers the majority of caregiving situations. For severe dementia with aggressive behaviours, we recommend speaking with your loved one's physician alongside using these tools. The Caregiver Protocol Card included in every kit also gives you step-by-step evening routines to follow.
What is the dementia clock and how does it work?
The dementia day clock displays the day of the week, time of day (MORNING / AFTERNOON / EVENING / NIGHT), and the full date in large, easy-to-read text. Unlike a standard clock, it removes the confusion of reading hands or digital numbers — your loved one simply sees "THURSDAY EVENING" in plain language. This one product alone reduces the single most common sundowning trigger: not knowing what time of day it is.
How quickly will I see results?
Most caregivers report a noticeable change within 3–7 evenings of consistent use. Dementia routines require repetition — the more consistently the kit is used at the same time each evening, the stronger the calming signal becomes for your loved one's brain.
Where do you ship from? How long does delivery take?
VeloraCare ships from within the United States. Standard delivery is 5–8 business days. Expedited options are available at checkout. You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your order ships.
What if it doesn't work for us?
We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you've used the kit consistently and haven't seen any improvement, contact us at support@veloracare.health and we'll make it right — no lengthy forms, no arguments. See our Return Policy for full details.
Can I buy just the clock, or just one item?
Right now we sell curated kits because the combination of products works synergistically — each one addresses a different sensory trigger. We've found that single-product orders lead to disappointment because sundowning is a multi-sensory problem. That said, reach out to us if you have a specific need and we'll do our best to help.
Is this a subscription?
No. Every kit is a one-time purchase. There are no auto-renewals, no hidden subscriptions. We do offer an optional Lavender Refill subscription for caregivers who use the roller daily — but it's entirely opt-in.
How do I contact you?
Email us at support@veloracare.health. We respond within 24 hours on business days. We're a small team of people who care deeply about this — you'll hear from a real person.
